It is precisely this crazy conundrum that the ingenious House at by Envelope Architects aims to overcome with a smart use of a central courtyard and an ingenious ‘light well’. In fact this vertical column at the heart of the house ends up becoming the defining feature of the eclectic modern home.
Nestled inside the exotic Maderas del Carmen the scenic landscape that surrounds the unique structure is home to rare and endangered species. Preserving this delicate natural environment while creating a cozy interior the creative was crafted using materials such as river rocks pine wood rammed earth and concrete!
It was Doherty Design Studio that brought the pops of color bespoke décor and exclusive details that elevated the style quotient of the interior. The result is a contemporary home where there is never a dull moment both indoors and outside.
Apart from the framed glass door that swings open to connect the living area and the backyard a large glass window next to a custom wooden bench in the living room completely opens up the interior to the world outside. This allows the brick wall covered with Boston Ivy to become a part of the living space visually giving the Holden Street House a hint of green goodness!
The kitchen which underwent a complete makeover now features white cabinets with shaker-style doors open floating wooden shelves and a ceramic tiled backsplash. An inviting dining space in white sits right next to the kitchen even as large windows bring in ample natural light to create a bright breezy ambiance.
Along with various shades of blue it is the presence of gray in the living room and the dining area that gives the home its distinctly contemporary flavor and helps it move away from the typical beach house ambiance.
Exposed brick walls at the entrance wooden ceiling turnbuckles and beams blend in effortlessly with contemporary elements while a refined color scheme that is dominated by white and gray defines the cool cultured ambiance indoors.
