In the last few years architects and smart interior designers have completely altered the idea of home design and the current trends are dominated by houses that bring the outdoors inside. This is precisely the path that the lovely in takes as its fabulous multi-level garden becomes the one defining feature of the lavish family residence.
The living area also contains the kitchen and dining room with two bedrooms four bathrooms and a balcony with infinity pool completing the lavish getaway. But this is a residence that is more about its architectural brilliance than just extravagant space!
The lower level of the house contains the double-height living area along with a kitchen and dining space that showcases vibrant yellow and orange accents. The top floor houses five bedrooms with each having their own color scheme along with bathrooms and family areas.
The traditional street façade of the double-fronted home was kept intact and a two-story extension was added to the rear connecting the existing garden with the interior in a seamless fashion.
The lakeside cottage was built more than a decade and a half ago and while its owner enjoyed several memorable summers at the cottage it was time for a fresh upgrade. It was from Gilbert+Burke who revamped the interior and altered both the structural plans of the house and the landscaping around it to give it a new lease on life.
This definitely makes their lives a lot easier while allowing the kids to move around the house without restrictions – a concept that most home designers seem to neglect while focusing on picture-perfect aesthetics!
While it might seem like a revamped and rejuvenated old farmhouse from the outside the residence is in fact a brand new structure that was intentionally designed to bring some old world charm indoors.
